Patna. People's expectations are increasing regarding the possibility of running bullet train in Bihar. There is talk of expanding the Delhi-Varanasi High Speed Rail Corridor to Patna and further to Siliguri. If this proposal is approved, many major cities of Bihar can get fast rail connectivity.
Stations can be built in these cities
Under the proposed expansion, there is a possibility of connecting cities like Buxar, Arrah, Patna, Begusarai, Khagaria and Katihar of Bihar. However, the final official approval regarding these stations and routes has not been confirmed yet.
Traveling from Patna to Varanasi?
In the discussions related to the proposal, it is being claimed that the journey from Patna to Varanasi will be completed in about 50 minutes. But the actual travel time will depend on the route, stations and train operations. Therefore, for now it should be seen only as a possible estimate.
865 kilometer corridor
The proposed length of Delhi-Varanasi High Speed Rail Corridor is said to be about 865 kilometers and the estimated cost is about Rs 1.21 lakh crore. Its route also includes plans to connect many major cities of Uttar Pradesh. Further progress of the project will depend on government approvals and detailed planning.
What will be the benefit to Bihar?
If Bullet Train extends to Bihar, time of passengers can be saved. Along with this, business, tourism and connectivity between major cities are also expected to be promoted.
At present, the eyes of the people of Bihar are on when the expansion till Patna is approved and when the construction work starts. At present, the routes and possible stations of Bihar should not be considered as a final decision, but only as a proposed plan.
