Will England ban Ben Stokes? Captain again trapped in nightclub chaos, action against this bowler too

England’s players and some of their habits are becoming a problem for the country’s cricket board. Just a few months ago, the actions of the players during the Ashes series in Australia had caused an uproar, in which many star players came under investigation. This time team captain Ben Stokes has come under investigation. The England Cricket Board has revealed in a statement that team captain Stokes and fast bowler Gus Atkinson are being investigated following an incident in a nightclub.

ECB said protocol violation

England defeated New Zealand in the Lord’s Test match on Sunday, June 7. Within just 4 days, England won this match and took a 1-0 lead in the series. Now the match ended quickly and the team also won, in such a situation perhaps England captain Ben Stokes and fast bowler Gus Atkinson, who took 5 wickets in the second innings, went to some nightclub to celebrate, where they got involved in some incident, which has now become a cause of trouble for both of them.

What is this incident, it has not been revealed yet but the England Cricket Board (ECB) called it a violation of protocol. On the evening of Monday 8 June, the ECB issued a statement revealing this. The board said in its statement that it is investigating against Stokes and Atkinson, who were involved in an incident on Monday morning (night of 7-8 June). The board said, “The ECB is currently investigating a breach of team protocol, which came to light after the end of the first men’s Test match against New Zealand.”

Will Stokes-Atkinson be banned?

In its statement, the board indicated the exclusion of Stokes and Atkinson from the second Test match and said that the team will be announced at the right time. The ECB said, “Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson were present in a nightclub in the early hours of Monday morning when an incident occurred there. We are currently gathering more information and the squad for the second Test will be announced in due course. The cricket regulator has been informed and we will provide more information in due course.”

Stokes got caught in nightclub chaos before too

This is not the first time that Ben Stokes has been involved in a controversy related to a nightclub. Earlier in 2017, he had a fight in a nightclub in Bristol, after which he was seen punching someone outside the club. The allegations were that Stokes had beaten two people and made them unconscious. The English all-rounder was arrested in this case and appeared in the court. ECB had also suspended him for some time.
