There have been rumblings of a major reshuffle in the Union Cabinet for a long time. It is being said that there can be changes on a large scale. It has already started informally. Ravneet Singh Bittu has resigned and gone to Punjab. Recently ministers like Hardeep Singh Puri and BL Verma were not sent to Rajya Sabha again. Now in this sequence, discussion has also started regarding the name of the country's Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda alias JP Nadda. These discussions have been given further strength by JP Nadda's activism in Himachal. It is being said about JP Nadda, former president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), that he can explore new possibilities for himself in Himachal Pradesh. It is possible that this search may reach the chair of the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. The reason for this is that elections are to be held in Himachal Pradesh at the end of next year.
There is a lot of talk that before going to the 2029 elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will make major changes in the Union Cabinet. In this sequence, efforts to send some leaders to the organization have started. Some of the leaders waiting in the wings have been made governors and new roles are being searched for many other leaders. Most of these names may be those who have been in the Union Cabinet two or three times. Aged leaders can also be dropped from the cabinet. These leaders are expected to be replaced by younger leaders, leaders who fit into the social equation and alliance partners.
Why discuss JP Nadda?
JP Nadda is the Health Minister of the country. He belongs to Himachal, he was educated in Bihar but currently he is a Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat. In such a situation, if he is out of the Union Cabinet, then another role will be found for him also. JP Nadda, who is among the confidants of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, has probably been hinted about the new role. In the last two weeks, he has become very active in Himachal.

From welcoming President Draupadi Murmu to inaugurating government schemes, only JP Nadda is seen. JP Nadda, who is meeting BJP workers, is not only attacking the Congress government of Himachal but is also calling for mobilization for the 2027 elections.
On Monday, when he reached outside the Atal Tunnel in Rohtang, he was accompanied by Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Seth and Leader of Opposition in Himachal Pradesh Jairam Thakur. On the same day he also laid the foundation stone of some government schemes. Before this program organized in Keylong, JP Nadda also met senior BJP workers in Manali. He also reached a BJP program organized in Manali Assembly. This is the same assembly where last time Congress defeated two-time BJP MLA Govind Singh Thakur.

On October 11, he also participated in the public representatives and workers conference organized in Kullu. Earlier, he had reached Bilaspur on 9th October. On October 6, he was also seen welcoming President Draupadi Murmu at AIIMS Bilaspur. JP Nadda's activities at the assembly level itself show that he is busy preparing another option for himself. If asked by the party, he can once again contest the assembly elections from Bilaspur and join the race for the post of CM.
How was JP Nadda's political career?
JP Nadda became MLA from Bilaspur for the first time in 1993 and won the elections from this seat twice in a row. In 2003, he lost the election from the same seat to Congress's Tilak Raj. He won again in 2007 and was an MLA as well as a minister in the government of Prem Kumar Dhumal. He was sent to Rajya Sabha in 2012 itself and he remained a member of Rajya Sabha till 2024. Meanwhile, he was the Union Health Minister between 2014 and 2019. Later, after becoming the President of BJP, he left the post of Union Minister. In 2020, he became the National President of BJP and remained in this post till 20 January 2026.

He will again be a minister when the NDA government is formed for the third time in 2024. JP Nadda is still a Rajya Sabha MP and is the leader of the Rajya Sabha. In his career of more than three decades, he has held positions like MLA, Minister in State Government, Minister in Central Government, Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha and National President of BJP. Now it is being said that if he is out of the Union Cabinet, he will contest the assembly elections again.
