She said that she is definitely thinking of entering politics and contributing to the development of the country. However, he has not yet taken any final decision regarding contesting the elections.
Saina Nehwal said that she would like to do this in the future, but has not taken a final decision in this regard at the moment. She said that just as she represented the country on the sports field for many years and won medals for India, similarly now she wants to do something better to serve the country. Saina joined BJP in 2020. On the question of joining the party, he said that he likes BJP and its way of working for the development of the country. She said that her aim has always been to work in the interest of the country and she wants to contribute in the same spirit in future too.
Saina proud of Tresa-Gayatri's victory
Saina Nehwal also praised Indian pair Tressa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, who recently won the bronze medal in women's doubles at the BWF World Championship 2026. He described the performance of both the players as excellent and praised their confidence and composure under pressure.
He said that Indian badminton players are now performing well in different categories. However, Saina was hopeful that this time India could also win a medal in women's singles.
Got medal in women's doubles after 15 years
The pair of Tressa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand performed brilliantly in the World Championship by defeating three seeded pairs and made it to the semi-finals. With this victory, India won the World Championship medal in women's doubles after 15 years.
Earlier in 2011, the pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa had won a medal for India in women's doubles. Saina described this achievement as a big success for Indian badminton.
