Will Sharad Pawar support NDA government? Supriya Sule gave big hints on women’s reservation and delimitation

The most sensational news of this time is coming out for Indian politics and opposition alliance ‘INDIA’. Sharad Pawar’s party, known as ‘Chanakya’ of Maharashtra politics, can go with the Nationalist Congress Party i.e. NCP (SP) Narendra Modi government at the Centre. Quoting sources, it is reported that during the upcoming monsoon session, Sharad Pawar faction can support the government on important bills related to women’s reservation and delimitation bill in the Parliament. The rumor of this major upset became louder when the party’s firebrand MP Supriya Sule hinted at her strategy on this subject in a press conference. Big blow to opposition unity! After all, what is Sharad Pawar’s new game plan? There is discussion in political circles that if Sharad Pawar faction supports this very important bill of the government, it will be a huge blow to the opposition front (INDIA Bloc). In fact, in the last session of Parliament, the opposition had unitedly opposed the 131st Constitution Amendment Bill, due to which this bill could not be passed in the House. But now the government is preparing to bring this bill again in the monsoon session starting from July 20, and this time the attitude of Sharad Pawar’s party seems to have changed. What did Supriya Sule say? Strong indications of support with ‘conditions’: While speaking to the media on Wednesday, Supriya Sule, however, made it clear that the party has not yet taken any final or official decision on this. But the party’s future strategy was clearly visible from his statements. Sule said, "If the government presents a clear roadmap to increase Lok Sabha seats by 50 per cent in all states and ensures that no state will be disadvantaged, we will consider supporting this bill.". This condition is similar to the earlier assurance given by Home Minister Amit Shah, in which he had talked about securing the representation of the states. Late night secret meetings increased heartbeats, is NCP uniting again? Not only the Parliament bills, but also the political turmoil going on within Maharashtra is considered to be a major reason behind this diplomatic stir. According to the report, recently very secret meetings have taken place between senior leaders of Sharad Pawar faction and Ajit Pawar faction. Not only this, the news of the leaders meeting late night at ‘Varsha’, the official residence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has given further fuel to the speculations whether the two factions of NCP can come together once again. However, Supriya Sule has described this meeting as only related to the administrative work of her area. Congress warned, P. Chidambaram said – this would be a betrayal of one’s conscience. Meanwhile, the opposition party Congress has taken a tough stance on this possible agreement. Senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram has accused BJP of wooing regional parties by posting on social media platform X. He has appealed to parties like Sharad Pawar’s NCP (SP) and DMK (DMK) not to support this bill. Chidambaram argues that the current delimitation formula will cause serious harm to states that have fully followed population control policies. In such a situation, now all eyes are on the Parliament session starting from July 20.
