Team India ODI Squad Selection: The very busy schedule of the Indian cricket team has started. The ODI series against West Indies has been completed, while the Asian Games action has also been completed and currently the T20 series against West Indies is going on. But the toughest test will be in New Zealand, which will start with the T20 series at the end of October. An ODI series is also to be played on this tour, for which there is talk of selecting two different squads and there is a possibility of getting a chance for those players who are currently playing for India A.
2 squads for ODI series
A report has claimed that the squad for the ODI and Test series on the New Zealand tour is going to be selected in a few days. It has been told in the report that 2 squads can be selected for the ODI series. There will be a main squad, which will include captain Shubman Gill and those players who are part of the Test team. This squad will play 3 matches. The second squad will be for only 2 matches, which will have 5-6 players, who will replace those from the Test squad.
Now the question is which players will be selected for the second squad? Now players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer will be there for all 5 matches. To support them, those players can be selected who are currently playing for India A in the ODI series against Australia A. It has been claimed in the report that the selection committee is keeping its eyes on this ODI series only, one match of which has already been played. This is the reason why the selection for the ODI series has been postponed for the time being.
Will he get a chance with Gaikwad?
Now if we look at the India A squad, the selection of some players is certain. In this, the place of team captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yash Thakur seems to be confirmed. While Gaikwad was recently a part of the ODI team, Yash Thakur has been given a chance in the T20 team in the last weeks and hence may get a chance in ODIs as well. Apart from these, all-rounder Suryansh Shedge is also sure to be selected, who can fill the void of Hardik Pandya. Suryansh was selected in India A only after Hardik’s injury.
Apart from these, players who can stake their claim with their performance include Rajat Patidar, who scored a fifty in the first match. Apart from these, Sai Sudarshan and Prabhsimran Singh can also make a place. Prabhasimran can play the role of backup wicketkeeper to Ishan Kishan, who is certain to be selected as KL Rahul will not be available.
