Pakistan Army’s brutality in occupied Kashmir! There have been allegations of indiscriminate firing and killing of protesters to suppress anti-government protests. The death toll due to torture is increasing day by day, which has made Pakistan uncomfortable on the international stage. In this situation, the Pakistan government has softened its tone on occupied Kashmir. Shahbaz Sharif’s party has called the protesters ‘patriots’.
On Saturday, Pakistan Prime Minister’s Advisor Rana Sanaullah said, “The protesters are not terrorists. 99 percent are patriots.” Along with this, Sanaullah also said that the Pakistani government will hold a meeting with members of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), a civil society alliance in occupied Kashmir. In his words, “The government will hold talks with JAAC representatives only after the PML-N government is formed with a two-thirds majority in occupied Kashmir.” Not only that, he also assured to resolve all the problems of occupied Kashmir.
Incidentally, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir has been in turmoil for more than a year. The civil society of occupied Kashmir is continuing its movement demanding its rights. There has been a long-standing anger in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir due to the economic crisis, deprivation of ordinary citizens, and imposition of one restriction after another. On top of that, the failure of the local administration has further intensified the protests. In the meantime, voting has taken place in occupied Kashmir. Even then, unrest continues.
The 12 reserved seats have become the focus of conflict in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The joint platform of various organizations, JAAC, has demanded that the 12 reserved seats be withdrawn. Questions have also been raised about the role of the Pakistani government. Meanwhile, instead of handling the protests, the Shahbaz government is being accused of resorting to repression. It is alleged that at least 20 protesters were killed in firing by security forces last week. In this situation, a section of local residents has warned that if their demands are not met, they will seek help from India. Pakistan has been embroiled in the entire issue on the international stage.
