Women Reservation Bill News: Prime Minister Narendra Modi On Thursday, he addressed the Lok Sabha regarding the ‘Women’s Reservation Bill’. Speaking on the issue of women’s reservation, Prime Minister Modi mentioned that ideally, when the concept was first mooted 25 to 30 years ago, it should have been implemented. Had that been the case, we would have reached the stage of maturity to a large extent by now. As per the need, the necessary reforms would have been made from time to time and indeed, that is the real beauty of democracy. Prime Minister Modi said, “I want this bill to be passed unanimously.”
‘Whoever opposes this will lose the election’
Prime Minister Modi asserted: “Making women an integral part of the policy-making process is the urgent need of the hour. Women aspire to participate at every level, from panchayat level to parliament. Some individuals are opposing this bill only out of fear of losing their own seat (constituency). Whoever opposes this bill today will have to pay a heavy price for a long time to come. If we all come together and pass this bill, it will benefit everyone. These are the people at the panchayat level.” Women do not oppose reservation, but whoever decides to oppose this bill is bound to lose the election.”

Prime Minister Modi said: “There are some very defining moments in a nation’s journey; at such times, the collective mindset of a society and the capacity for leadership come together. This confluence perfectly captures that moment, transforms it into a national asset and creates a strong legacy. In the parliamentary history of India, this is exactly such a moment. Let us all Parliamentarians not let this momentous opportunity slip away. United, as Indians, we are ready to take the country in a new direction.” We will undertake a meaningful effort to instill more sensitivity in our governance. I am sure that the ‘nectar’ that will emerge from this collective brainstorming will not only determine the shape and direction of the country’s politics, but also shape the future course and destiny of the nation.”

Speaking about the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Modi said: “India is moving confidently into the 21st century. I believe that ‘developed India’ does not mean just excellent railways, infrastructure, roads or economic development statistics; we are not among those who have such a narrow vision of a developed India. We want the mantra ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ (Support for all, development for all) to be fully embedded in the policy-making process of a developed India. 50 per cent of the country’s population.” This is the need of the hour to make this an integral part of nation-building. Whatever the reasons behind this delay and whoever is responsible for it, we must accept this fact.”
