World’s second best airport serves 19.8 million passengers in first quarter
The growth was largely driven by sustained travel demand to Japan and a surge in Chinese visitors, following the extension of visa-free entry policies for Chinese group tours, Korea Times reported.
The increase also marks the highest first quarter passenger traffic through Incheon in the past 16 years, Korea Joongang Daily reported.
Stronger traffic on Japan and China routes helped offset declines on Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern services, where passenger numbers fell 4.7% and 16%, respectively, amid security concerns and reduced flight operations.
For 2026, the airport forecasts passenger traffic to reach 75.07 million, up 2% year-on-year, pointing to a gradual recovery path.
