South Korea’s Incheon International Airport handled the highest number of international passengers among airports worldwide in the first quarter of the year, marking the first time it has claimed the top spot since opening in 2001.
According to the Airports Council International (ACI), Incheon Airport, ranked the world’s second-best behind Singapore’s Changi in the 2026 Skytrax World Airport Awards, recorded 19.78 million international passengers during the January-March period, the most among 1,234 international airports globally, South Korrea’s Chosun Daily newspaper reported.
The Korean airport overtook Dubai International Airport, which had topped international passenger numbers for more than a decade.
Dubai handled 18.58 million international passengers in the first quarter, down from 23.4 million a year earlier amid the Middle East crisis, Reuters reported.

Incheon Airport has also become the fastest major aviation hub to surpass 1 billion cumulative passengers, The Korea Times reported.
The airport reached the milestone just 25 years and three months after opening in March 2001.
Built on reclaimed land between Yeongjong and Yongyu islands, the 5,400-hectare airport is one of the world’s largest and busiest aviation hubs, featuring four runways, two main passenger terminals and extensive logistics and support facilities.
