World’s second most visited city welcomes 26.7 million tourists in 6 months
Hong Kong, the world’s second most visited city for international arrivals after Bangkok, welcomed 26.7 million visitors in the first half of the year, a 13% increase from a year earlier.
Tourism officials attributed the growth to expanded flight routes and enhanced airport infrastructure, the South China Morning Post reported.

In May, Hong Kong International Airport opened its second passenger terminal as part of a US$14.5 billion expansion aimed at strengthening its position against global aviation hubs including Singapore Changi and Dubai International Airport.
Terminal 2 hosts 15 airlines, most of them low-cost carriers, including AirAsia, IndiGo, Bangkok Airways, Cebu Pacific, Hainan Airlines and Cambodia Airways, Bloomberg reported.
With revitalized neighborhoods, a thriving dining and nightlife scene, world-class cultural institutions and some of Asia’s most ambitious tourism campaigns, Hong Kong is emerging as a favorite destination of tourists, British magazine Time Out wrote.
