World’s second most visited country ranks third in global retirement ranking

The Global Citizen Solutions, a London-based organization specializing in global citizenship, visa and relocation services in Europe and the Caribbean, released the ranking by comparing 46 retirement and passive-income residence programs based on quality of life, travel freedom, pathways to citizenship, application procedures and costs.

It also assesses factors including safety, environmental quality, income requirements, processing times, tax rates, and routes to permanent residency or citizenship.

Spain is considered one of the world’s safest countries, with relatively low levels of violent crime, dependable healthcare services and well-developed public infrastructure.

Thanks to its reputation, the country received 70.4 million international tourists between January and August, a 5.4% year-on-year increase.

Beyond healthcare and affordability, Spain offers diverse climates and lifestyles. The Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts promise beachside living with 300 days of sunshine per year.

The country also has flexible visa policies for retirees, including permanent residency visas granted automatically after five years, as well as telework visas valid for up to three years.

Uruguay topped the list, followed by Mauritius.

Europe remained the most represented region, with six countries in the top 10, which has no Asian representatives.
