Automobile Desk: In view of the increasing demand for middleweight adventure bikes in the two-wheeler auto market, Yamaha has completed preparations to expand its powerful Tenere series. Just before the EICMA 2026 auto show to be held in Milan, Italy, the company has officially unveiled its new 'Tenere 4 Concept' motorcycle. This new adventure bike is being introduced as the entry-level option in the Tenere portfolio. Auto experts believe that this bike will directly challenge KTM's popular Adventure series.
Yamaha has indicated to provide a new liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with 400cc capacity in this new concept. Although the Japanese automaker has not yet made public the exact figures or output details of this powerplant, the number '4' present in the name of the bike clearly indicates that it will target the 400cc segment. There is talk in the automobile circles that this new engine is completely different from the 395cc motor of the company's old XMAX 400 maxi-scooter and is built on a new platform.
In terms of design and structure, the Tenere 4 Concept has been completely engineered with rough-and-tough off-roading and long-distance touring in mind. The front profile of the bike features an adventure-style beak, a tall windscreen and strong handguards that provide protection to the rider from gusts of wind and stones. Its frame has been kept light in weight but tough in strength, so that the balance and control of the bike remains excellent on difficult roads.
This concept looks quite powerful on the suspension and hardware front as well. It has KYB high-travel suspension setup at the front and rear, which can come with adjustability feature. To maintain off-road grip, the bike uses 21-inch spoke wheels at the front and 18-inch spoke wheels at the rear, which are shod with Michelin Anakee Wild tyres. Apart from this, the upwardly raised Akrapovic exhaust and boxy rear swingarm further enhance its aggressive look.
To make the riding experience comfortable, Yamaha has given it a rally style single seat and high handlebar with flat fuel tank design. This gives the rider an upright and fatigue-free riding position while covering long distances. The company has not yet disclosed the launch timeline and possible prices of the production model of this bike, but it is believed that its technical aspects may be unveiled during the main event of EICMA.
