According to the report, Yasin Malik has expressed his views through a 25-page affidavit filed in the TADA/POTA court of Jammu. In this, apart from his wife Mushal Malik, he has also given a message for his mother and 13-year-old daughter Razia Sultana.

'This decision was taken in great pain'

In the affidavit, Yasin Malik has claimed that for the last 8 years he has neither been able to talk to his wife Mushal on phone nor see her through video call. He said that he was not allowed to contact his family while in jail. In a message to his wife Mushal, Malik said that he has taken this decision with great pain. Expressing his wish, he said that he does not want Mushal to continue to bear the burden of the current circumstances all her life or to live like a widow. Malik said that he wants Mushal to start a new chapter of his life with respect and hope.

In the affidavit, Yasin Malik has also mentioned the fear of death sentence and the possibility of staying in jail for a long time as the reason behind his desire to separate from his wife. He said that in such uncertain circumstances he did not want his wife to live a life of constant worry and confusion. That's why he wants to free her from this relationship, so that she can start a new chapter of her life.

For his 13-year-old daughter Razia Sultana, Malik has talked about taking care of his grandmother and talking to her daily. She has appealed to her daughter to make her grandmother feel the support of the family in difficult times. However, after the affidavit came out, a reaction has also come from Razia Sultana's side. In a video message she expressed deep emotional pain and protest over her father's decision. She said that if her father really divorced her mother, she would not be able to bear the situation.

Malik is lodged in Tihar jail since 2019

It is noteworthy that Yasin Malik is in jail since 2019 in the terror funding case. In May 2022, the special NIA court sentenced him to life imprisonment in this case. However, the NIA has been continuously demanding commutation of his life sentence to death penalty. At present, the hearing of a murder case against Yasin Malik is also going on in Jammu. In such a situation, his affidavit mentions the fear of being hanged and his desire to be separated from his family.
