Delhi: Indian fast bowler Yash Dayal is once again preparing to return to domestic cricket. Dayal, who is facing two rape-related cases, has been included in the Ranji Trophy camp in Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association Chief Executive Officer Ankit Chatterjee told The Times of India that Dayal will be available for selection in the state team this year.

Let us tell you that Dayal has been away from competitive cricket for the last 16 months. Now his joining the Ranji Trophy camp is a big step towards his comeback in domestic cricket.
Dayal returned to Ranji camp
Separate cases are registered against Yash Dayal in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh and Jaipur, Rajasthan. In July 2025, an FIR was registered in Ghaziabad on the complaint of a woman. The woman had accused Dayal of sexually exploiting her on the pretext of marriage.
Dayal had denied these allegations. He said that the relationship between the two was consensual and the matter was related to his alleged demand for money after making a name for himself in the IPL.
After some time, a case was also registered against him in Jaipur, in which serious allegations related to a minor were made under the POCSO Act. The legal process related to these allegations has not been completed yet.
What is the situation in the court?
The most important thing in these cases is that Yash Dayal has not been convicted in any case. Both the cases are still in the legal process.
In August 2025, the Rajasthan High Court had refused to grant him interim relief and stay his possible arrest in the Jaipur case.
At the same time, in July 2026, Allahabad High Court had stayed the proceedings of the lower court in the Ghaziabad case. This does not mean that Dayal has been acquitted of the case. The legal status of the case still remains.
UP had dropped him from the team earlier also
After these matters came to light, UPCA had removed Dayal from the UP T20 League in August 2025. After this he was no longer a part of the state selection process.
Later, Dayal had sought a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association to play for Chhattisgarh. However, according to the report, UPCA had assured him of giving him a chance to play for Uttar Pradesh again.

Did not get a chance to play even in IPL 2026
Yash Dayal remained a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team, but he did not get a chance to play in the IPL 2026 campaign. Now after being included in the Ranji Trophy camp, he will be eyeing a comeback in domestic cricket. However, his selection in the final team will be a separate decision and will depend on the performance and the needs of the team.
