Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shefali Verma trapped in dope test controversy, NADA sent notice

Tezzbuzz Desk- Amidst the excitement of IPL 2026, a big issue related to Indian cricket has come to light. Team India’s young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal and women’s cricket team’s star opener Shafali Verma are in the news for allegations of violation of dope test rules. The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has issued notices to both the players and the matter has also been informed to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and ICC.

According to the report, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shefali Verma are part of the Registered Testing Pool (RTP) of NADA. Players included in this pool have to give information in advance about what time and place they will be present, so that officials can contact them for the dope test. Not being available at the designated place is considered a violation of the ‘whereabout clause’.

It has been told that when the dope control officer came to take Yashasvi Jaiswal’s test on December 17, he was not present at his declared place. Similarly, on November 7, Shefali Verma was also not found at her given address. For this reason, dope test of both the players could not be done.

The matter was not limited to this. NADA had sent notices to both the players asking for their reply, but did not receive their reply within the stipulated time limit. After this, the agency has registered a ‘miss test’ against both of them under ‘whereabout failure’. Now NADA has once again issued a notice seeking clarification within seven days.

However, at present no disciplinary action has been taken against both the players. As per the rules, action is taken against a player involved in RTP if he records ‘missed test’ or ‘whereabout failure’ three times within 12 months. In such a situation, the player has to present his case before NADA and if a satisfactory answer is not received, a ban of up to two years can be imposed.

At present, the Indian cricket world is keeping an eye on this matter and it is believed that both the players can submit their reply to the agency soon.
