Political suspense continues in Tamil Nadu, Vijay’s swearing in postponed again

Tezzbuzz Desk- The ongoing turmoil in Tamil Nadu politics regarding power formation took a new turn late on Friday night. Now the mathematics of majority seems to be getting complicated amid the claim of actor Vijay’s party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) to form the government. The swearing-in ceremony, for which there was an atmosphere of preparations and celebration throughout the day, turned into political suspense by late evening.

There was huge enthusiasm among TVK supporters since morning. The party was confident that it would achieve the majority mark with the support of Congress, CPI, CPI(M) and some other parties. Workers were celebrating outside Vijay’s Panayur residence and discussions were rife about his swearing-in on Saturday. But by evening the situation changed.

Political entanglement VCK chief Thol. Stuck on Thirumavalavan’s stance. He had publicly said that his party would stand by the decision of the Left parties, but the letter of support was not handed over to the Governor till late night. According to sources, only 116 MLAs were present before the Governor in support of Vijay, whereas 118 seats are required for majority.

After this, a period of speculation started in Tamil Nadu politics. News started emerging that Thirumavalavan was continuously talking to TVK, AIADMK and DMK leaders at different times. The biggest discussion took place when he reached the residence of acting Chief Minister MK Stalin late at night and a long meeting took place there.

The discussion also intensified in the political circles that some parties are looking for such a formula in which Thirumavalavan can be put forward as the universally accepted chief ministerial face. Meanwhile, another development further complicated the whole matter.

NDA ally and AMMK chief TTV Dhinakaran arrived to meet the Governor late in the night. He alleged that TVK is trying to break his party’s MLA. Dinakaran claimed that his party’s MLA Kamaraj S. He is “missing” and his phone is also switched off. He demanded immediate investigation into the matter.

The controversy escalated when an alleged support letter surfaced, in which AMMK MLA Kamaraj had stated his support to TVK. Dinakaran called this letter fake and clearly said that his party still stands with the NDA and AIADMK alliance. He also said that his support for the post of Chief Minister was given to Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

TVK, on the other hand, rejected Dhinakaran’s allegations. The party released a video claiming that MLA Kamaraj had voluntarily given the letter of support. TVK says that the process of gathering support for government formation is completely democratic and the party does not need any kind of horse-trading.

TVK has created a major political upset by winning 108 seats in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly. However, there is still a distance from the majority figure. Despite the support signals from Congress, CPI and CPI(M), the equation of power is not completely clear. In such a situation, the politics of Tamil Nadu is currently going through a period of excitement and uncertainty.
