Yemen Update: Houthis gave a big warning to Saudi Arabia, said they will target airports and important targets
Yemen’s Houthi rebels have issued an open warning to Saudi Arabia. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said that if Saudi Arabia violates or attacks Yemeni airspace, they will launch a major attack on Saudi air bases and important targets on land and sea.
This whole matter started with an Iranian plane. It is being told that on July 3, 2026, an Iranian civilian plane was going to land at Sana’a International Airport. There were more than 200 passengers on board the plane, including injured and stranded people. The Houthis allege that Saudi fighter planes tried to stop the plane from landing.
According to the Houthi statement, their air defense missiles encountered Saudi aircraft, forcing them to retreat. After this the Iranian plane landed safely at Sana’a airport. The Houthis have said they will continue flights between Sanaa and Tehran to end the 11-year blockade of the airport.
At the same time, some reports had claimed that the coalition spokesperson Major General Turki al-Maliki had threatened to take retaliatory action, but no such statement came from his side on July 3.
Earlier in December 2025, Major General Turki al-Maliki had talked about maintaining peace. At that time they attacked only those weapons and vehicles that were brought through Mukalla Port to help the Southern Transitional Council (STC). Even in June 2026, he had informed about a missile deviating from its path and clarified that there was no attack on the Saudi base.
