Yoga will add color to historical heritage, 10 lakh people will participate in Kolkata
Kolkata: Today the whole world seems to be colored in the colors of the 12th International Yoga Day. This year, Kolkata, the city known as the cultural and spiritual capital of India, has become the center of Global Yoga Day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself is leading the national program organized on the historic Red Road of Kolkata. This grand session is going to start in a short time, which has awakened a new enthusiasm in the entire country and the world. This time Yoga Day is on its way to create a new history at both digital and ground levels.
Focus on ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging’ theme

A huge crowd of 10 lakh people in Kolkata
The main stage has been set up on Kolkata’s Red Road, where the hustle and bustle of the program has intensified since morning. In this main event, about 35,000 people will practice ‘Common Yoga Protocol’ directly with the Prime Minister. At the same time, if we talk about the entire Kolkata city, then about 10 lakh people are expected to join this Maha-yoga session including different parks, grounds and centres. This leadership of PM Modi will further strengthen India’s resolve to make yoga a global people’s movement for health and well-being.
Yoga’s sting on the global stage
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, this year an unprecedented response is being seen across the world regarding Yoga Day. Yoga programs are being organized by Indian Missions at approximately 2,500 locations around the world in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. The Ministry’s ‘Yoga Sangam Portal’ has achieved record breaking success this time, where the number of organizational registrations has crossed 6 lakhs.
Confluence of historical heritage and yoga
This time Yoga Day has also been linked to the rich cultural heritage of India. With the joint efforts of the Ministry of Culture and the Archaeological Survey of India, special yoga sessions are being organized at 100 historical and famous places in the country. These include 12 major places like Red Fort of New Delhi, Valleys of Leh, Ghats of Haridwar, Konark, Hampi, Mahabalipuram, Mumbai, Nalanda, Ahmedabad, Sarnath, Hyderabad and Silchar, where the modern world is feeling the power of Yoga in the shadow of ancient history.
