UP Waterlogging Action: To provide relief to the common people from the problem of waterlogging during rains in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi government has instructed the urban bodies to remain in alert mode. Urban Development and Energy Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma has given instructions to regularly monitor the drainage system in all the urban areas of the state and to ensure necessary arrangements in advance in sensitive areas. He made it clear that negligence will not be tolerated at any level in works related to public interest.
Minister A.K. Sharma told the officials that regular monitoring of the drainage system should be done in all the urban bodies of the state including Varanasi. After identifying each sensitive area, the condition of drains, sewer lines and pumping stations there should be reviewed in advance. Wherever deficiencies in the drainage system are seen, immediate corrective action should be taken. Officials should complete necessary preparations in advance in areas prone to waterlogging.
Government committed to providing facilities
The Urban Development Minister clarified that adequate resources and guidelines are being provided to the officials by the government. In such a situation, negligence in execution of works or ignoring the instructions of higher officials will not be accepted. If negligence is found at any level, strict action will be taken by fixing the accountability of the concerned officer. He said that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is committed to providing better, accessible and safe urban facilities to the citizens.

AK Sharma said that it is the priority of the government to improve the drainage, sewer and sanitation systems in a religiously and culturally important city like Varanasi. Along with the immediate solution to waterlogging, an effective action plan is also being worked on for its permanent solution.
