Lucknow. The Yogi government has taken a significant step toward increasing employment opportunities for former fire fighters in Uttar Pradesh. After providing opportunities in the police and PAC, the government is now preparing to provide former fire fighters with the benefit of reservation in direct recruitment to the Forest Department. The government has decided to provide 20 percent horizontal reservation for former fire fighters in direct recruitment to the posts of forest guard and wildlife guard.
To implement this system, the process of amending the relevant recruitment rules has been initiated. The government believes this will provide new employment opportunities for former Agniveers who have received discipline and training in the military. It will also provide trained human resources to critical sectors such as forest and wildlife conservation.
Those who complete four years of military service will get benefits
The proposed system will benefit former fire warriors who have completed four years of service in the Indian Armed Forces. They will be given reservations in forest guard and wildlife guard recruitment, similar to those for ex-servicemen.
This reservation will not be a separate new category, but will be implemented within the respective social category. That is, former Agniveers from the General, OBC, SC, and ST categories will receive a 20 percent benefit in the reserved positions for their respective categories.
There will be a change in the recruitment rules
To implement this system, the Uttar Pradesh Lower Subordinate Forest (Forest Guard/Wildlife Guard) Service Rules, 2015, are being amended. Departmental Principal Secretary V. Hekali Jhimomi has directed Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Department Head Sunil Chaudhary to make the necessary changes to Rule 4 and Rule 6 of the rules. Once the amendments are complete, the path will be cleared for implementing the reservation system for former Agniveers in the upcoming direct recruitment.
