Lucknow. In Uttar Pradesh, lakhs of building owners stuck in house tax dues for years are going to get big relief. One Time Solution Scheme (OTS) is being implemented by the Yogi government in all 762 urban bodies of the state. The scheme will start from 15th August 2026 and its benefits can be availed till 15th December 2026.
Interest waived on depositing principal balance
Under OTS, eligible building owners will have to deposit pending basic house tax, water tax and sewer tax. On depositing the principal amount, you will get 100 percent rebate on interest and surcharge related to it. The benefit of the scheme can be availed on the dues till April 1, 2026.
From residential to commercial
The scope of the scheme includes residential, commercial and mixed-use properties. Apart from individual taxpayers, government departments, autonomous institutions and public undertakings will also be able to avail its benefits.
Facility to pay in installments
The government has also provided the facility of installments to those paying the dues. At least one-third of the principal balance has to be deposited within 30 days of the implementation of the scheme. After this, the remaining amount can be deposited in two monthly installments. However, it will be necessary to repay the entire principal balance within three months.
Online and Offline Application
To avail the benefits of the scheme, applications can be made through both online and offline means. The concerned urban body will accept the applications through its website or special portal. There is a provision to dispose of the application within 15 days after receiving it. The aim of the government is to provide relief to the old defaulters as well as to increase the revenue collection of the urban bodies. People will be informed about the scheme by running a special awareness campaign from 15th August to 14th September.
