“You broke my records too”: PM Modi said in Surat, big things about political journey and cleanliness
Gujarat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Gujarat, praised the people of Surat while remembering his early days in politics. He said that the citizens of Surat have not only left behind his political record but have also taken the spirit of development and service to new heights.
Referring to the huge success achieved by BJP in the local body elections, PM Modi said that the support of the people of Gujarat has been unprecedented and due to this all the old records have been broken. He said smilingly, “I am even happier today because my records were also broken by all of you.”
Mentioned about the political journey that started from 1987-
Recalling the beginning of his political career, the Prime Minister said that he came into active politics in 1987. He said that the civic elections of Surat and Ahmedabad were among his early political experiences, where he got a huge victory for the first time. Since then this series of victories has continued continuously.
‘Seva Bhaav’ got public support-
PM Modi said that it is rarely seen in the democratic countries of the world that a political party continues to get the blessings of the public for so long. Describing it as a victory of the “spirit of service”, he said that the people of Gujarat have continuously supported this spirit.
He said that many public representatives of Surat and Navsari were present in the program, and this victory is not just political but a determination to carry forward the mission of service. The Prime Minister called upon all workers and public representatives to work harder and said that the goal is “developed Gujarat and developed India”.
‘Surat is not just a city, it is a spirit’-
Regarding the identity of Surat, PM Modi said that this city is not just a geographical place, but a “spirit”. He said that despite winning cleanliness awards continuously, Surat did not let down its priority towards cleanliness.
He also reminded that Surat, which once faced a serious disease like plague, is today counted among the cleanest cities of the country. Behind this is the collective hard work of the public, administrative officers, employees and public representatives.
In the end, the Prime Minister said that Surat has transformed itself through sustained efforts in the last two and a half decades and this transformation is an inspiration for the entire country.
