Ram Kapoor revealed that during the most successful phase of his career, he was battling severe depression, poor health, and alcohol addiction. He said that there was a time when a doctor told him bluntly that if he didn’t change his lifestyle, he would only have six months left to live.

Ram Kapoor explained that he worked in the industry for nearly 27 years, appearing in numerous films and TV shows, but his biggest recognition came from “Bade Achhe Lagte Hain.” It was during this show that the most difficult phase of his life began. He said, “I worked for 27 years. I did many films and shows over the years, but my identity was established only through ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain.’ I kept one thing hidden from the whole world. Even my wife was completely unaware of it.” Ram revealed that at the time he was experiencing the greatest success in his career, he was also battling depression.
‘I kept falling apart’
Ram Kapoor said that after the success of the show, he gained immense popularity. His character became a household name, but during this time, his weight steadily increased and his mental condition also deteriorated. He said, “I received a lot of love at that time. I became one of the most loved actors, but at the same time, my weight was continuously increasing and I was completely mentally broken.”
A doctor warned of death
Ram Kapoor explained that his increasing weight and poor lifestyle were seriously affecting his health. The situation had become so bad that doctors warned him. He said, “The doctor told me I was at risk of a diabetic stroke. He said that if I didn’t change my habits, I could die within six months.” According to Ram, his diabetes had become uncontrollable. He said, “I was taking insulin three times a day. My blood sugar would fluctuate between 400 and 500, and sometimes even go above 600.”

Alcohol Addiction and Deteriorating Behavior
Ram Kapoor said that at that time he was working 14-hour days at a stretch. Work, money, and fame became his top priorities. During this time, he began drinking alcohol, and it gradually became a habit. He said, “I wasn’t paying attention to my health at all. I was only focused on work, money, and fame. I would drink even on set. I would arrive hours late for shooting and behave very rudely with people.” Recalling his own experiences, Ram Kapoor said, “I had become a monster at that time.”
‘The show got shut down because of me’
Ram Kapoor expressed regret over his behavior and said that his bad habits and unprofessional attitude had an impact on the show. He said, “I would arrive six hours late for shooting.
