New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and demanded to make public the details of his foreign trips. He said that being the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha, the public has the right to know whom Rahul Gandhi meets abroad and why he goes.
Speaking at the BJP's 'Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy' rally, Shah said, “You have just returned from Vietnam, but don't talk about it. There should be transparency. Rahul ji, please give details of all your foreign trips to the public. How many days did you stay in Vietnam, who did you meet, why did you go there and what was your programme.” He said that Rahul Gandhi holds a constitutional post, hence the people of the country should get this information.
Questions raised on EVM and elections also
The Home Minister also asked questions to Rahul Gandhi regarding EVMs. He said that if Rahul Gandhi thinks all EVMs are bad, then why did his party's MLAs take oath after winning elections in Kerala, Telangana and Himachal Pradesh with the same machines. Shah said, “Rahul ji, there is a saying in Uttar Pradesh 'Naach na jaane aangan thedha'. The people of the country no longer accept you, accept it.”
If you want to argue on the road then choose the intersection
Shah said that people are wondering whether important issues should be discussed on the streets or in Parliament. Challenging Rahul Gandhi, he said, “If you are so fond of discussing on the streets, then we have no objection. You ask Modi ji to debate, leave Modi ji alone. Pick any intersection in Haryana, our Yuva Morcha president will debate with you.” He further said, “If you want to have a responsible and meaningful discussion, then come and debate in Parliament. But I know you will not do that and will run away as usual.”
Congress accused of conspiracy
The Home Minister asked BJP workers to go to every house to expose the conspiracy by Congress and its allies to defame the election process. He also appealed to the people to tell them the truth about the Special Intensive Review (SIR) process. Shah said, “The Election Commission had given permission to every political party to appoint booth level agents (BLAs). When the Election Commission was doing SIR, what were the BLAs of the Congress doing?” Taking a dig at the infighting in the Haryana Congress, he said, “Their BLAs were busy wrestling Hooda and Selja. They never helped the voters.”
Attack on guarantees also
Shah also took aim at the guarantees given in Congress ruled states. He claimed that Congress had given 10 guarantees in Himachal Pradesh, but did not fulfill even one. He said that all the guarantees given by PM Modi have been fulfilled in Haryana and he thanked the Chief Minister for this.
