Delhi High Court said that it will issue an interim order to protect the personality rights of Yuvraj. Apart from this, the court directed to remove all objectionable posts related to Yuvraj on social media and posts shared without his consent within the next 48 hours. The High Court has issued a notice in this case and has fixed the next hearing on November 30.

Goods were being sold for profit without consent

Justice Jyoti Singh, who was hearing this case, gave this order. Yuvraj’s lawyer presented before the court a list of links to objectionable posts about the former cricketer and told that two of these links have already been removed. The lawyer said that without the consent of Yuvraj, his personality was being used to sell goods for commercial gain.

The lawyer explained that one of the infringing posts was on Reddit; In this, Yuvraj was accused of using objectionable language against women and derogatory things were said about the former cricketer. A lawyer representing Reddit argued that the link was two years old and called the issue a case of defamation rather than a violation of personality rights.

Order to remove link within 48 hours

Justice Singh registered the case as a formal case and issued notice on the application for interim injunction. The defendants will have to file their reply within three weeks. The court said that it will order those who uploaded the content to remove the link within 48 hours. If an uploader does not remove the links within the stipulated time, the court will authorize Yuvraj to remove them within 36 hours with the help of the defendants.

Relief to Abhishek Sharma in personality rights case

Earlier, on July 9, Delhi High Court had given big relief to Indian team’s star batsman Abhishek Sharma in a similar case related to personality rights. The court has said that it will issue an interim order directing the removal of various objectionable posts and links that misuse Abhishek’s personality. The High Court has issued summons in this case. Abhishek’s lawyer has filed an additional affidavit giving information about the URL. He told that some posts have been removed, but two social media posts containing abusive words for Abhishek are still present on Facebook and Instagram. Abhishek’s lawyer also said that the cricketer’s picture has been used for commercial purposes on Amazon and Flipkart without his consent, and these posts have not been removed yet.
