Uttarakhand News: Green transport revolution started in Devbhoomi, CM Dhami distributed subsidy checks.
Uttarakhand News: The state government has taken a big step to make Uttarakhand clean, modern and environment friendly. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a special program organized at Chief Sevak Sadan located at Chief Minister Camp Office on Tuesday. This program was organized under the Uttarakhand Clean Mobility Transformation Policy-2024.
During this, the Chief Minister handed over subsidy checks of capital grant and incentive amount to six primary beneficiary vehicle owners. Along with this, the subsidy and approval process of five other beneficiaries has also been completed by the Transport Department. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also flagged off 11 vehicles running on clean fuel.
Balance between environmental protection and development
Addressing the people present at the program, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that this financial assistance is not just a government help, but it is a symbol of the state government’s resolve to connect Devbhoomi with a clean and modern transportation system. He said that this initiative will promote public vehicles running on clean fuel in the urban areas of the state. This will significantly reduce the pollution of old diesel vehicles running on the roads and will give a new boost to the environment.
The Chief Minister said that today the whole world is facing a serious problem like climate change. In such times, it is the biggest responsibility of all of us to create the right balance between development and nature. Development is truly meaningful only when it creates a secure future for future generations without harming nature.
Strengthening Prime Minister Modi’s dream of Green India
Praising the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister said that today India is working ahead in the field of green energy and sustainable development in the whole world. The country has set a big target of net-zero emissions by the year 2070. Apart from this, schemes like Lifestyle for Environment campaign, PM e-bus service and expansion of solar energy show India’s strong thinking towards the environment. Uttarakhand is also moving forward on this thinking.
Pledge to protect the natural heritage of Devbhoomi
Referring to the natural beauty of Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister said that this state is situated in the lap of the Himalayas. Holy rivers like Ganga and Yamuna originate from here. The forests, mountains, rivers and animals here are priceless assets for the entire country. It is the collective duty of all of us to maintain the environment and natural balance of this sacred earth. The thinking of our government is very clear that development and environment are each other’s companions, hence the pace of development will be increased only while protecting the environment.
Benefits of Uttarakhand Clean Mobility Transformation Policy
The main objective of Uttarakhand Clean Mobility Transformation Policy-2024 implemented by the state government is to improve and modernize the transportation system of cities. Under this, smoke and pollution caused by old diesel vehicles will be stopped. Also, people will be encouraged to use CNG and electric vehicles. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that this policy will prove to be a strong foundation for a clean and safe journey in the state in the times to come.
Big work on electric buses and rooftop solar
Giving information about the preparations being made in the state, the Chief Minister said that the scope of electric buses is being continuously increased in big cities like Dehradun, Haridwar and Haldwani. Charging stations are being built across the state so that electric vehicle drivers do not face any kind of problem. Along with this, work is going on rapidly on rope-way and modern urban transport system in the cities, which will reduce both vehicle congestion and pollution in the hilly areas. He said that the initial target of 40 thousand for installing rooftop solar under PM Surya Ghar Yojana has been achieved ahead of time. So far, about 95 percent of the work has been completed.
Beneficiaries are the real heroes of the Green Revolution
The Chief Minister congratulated the vehicle owners who received the subsidy and said that they are not just the beneficiaries of this scheme, but are the real heroes of the coming green transport revolution in Uttarakhand. With this step of his, other drivers will also be inspired to adopt CNG and electric vehicles. He said that no major change is possible without public cooperation, hence every citizen will have to join this campaign. On this special occasion, Transport Minister Pradeep Batra, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, MLA Savita Kapoor, Dehradun Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal, Transport Secretary Ravinath Raman and many senior officials of the department were present.
