The franchise has appointed former left-arm Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan as the new head coach. Indian legend Zaheer Khan will be seen taking charge of Chennai Super Kings as the head coach from the next season. He has been given this responsibility in place of former New Zealand legend Stephen Fleming. Fleming had resigned from the post of head coach some time ago, after which fans were waiting for the announcement of the new head coach of CSK. Now the wait of the fans is over, because the franchise has announced the appointment of Zaheer Khan as the head coach.

Chennai Super Kings announced its new head coach through a social media post on Monday (September 21). This announcement surprised everyone. CSK wrote in its post, ‘Now the turn of the left hand. Welcome Zaheer Khan as the head coach of Chennai Super Kings. This announcement of the franchise is shocking because for the last few days there was talk of making Eoin Morgan the head coach.

Zaheer Khan’s career

Zaheer Khan is one of the most successful fast bowlers of India. Zaheer Khan played 92 test matches for India, in which he took 311 wickets. Whereas in ODI, Zaheer Khan took 282 wickets in 200 matches. Apart from this, Zaheer Khan took 17 wickets in 17 international matches. He played an important role in India winning the 2011 World Cup.

Whereas, if we talk about his IPL career, Zaheer Khan played for RCB, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils. During this period he took 102 wickets in 100 matches.

Zaheer Khan’s coaching career

After retirement, Zaheer Khan entered the world of coaching. He worked as Director of Cricket Operations with Mumbai Indians from 2018 to 2022. During this period, Mumbai Indians won the IPL title for two consecutive times (2019 and 2020). After this, Zaheer Khan also worked with Lucknow Super Giants as a mentor.
