Hyderabad: The makers of director Puri Jagannadh’s much-awaited action entertainer Slumdog 33 Temple Road, starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead, have unveiled the first look poster of veteran actress Zarina Wahab from the film.
The makers have also revealed that Zarina Wahab plays the character Zubaida in the upcoming Pan-India film.
Puri Jagannadh introduces Zarina Wahab
Director Puri Jagannadh shared Zarina Wahab’s first look poster on his social media platforms, introducing her character as Zubaida.
In his post, the filmmaker described the character with the words, “A heart full of love, a life full of struggles,” while announcing a special character glimpse scheduled for release at 10 am the following day.
The filmmaker also confirmed that the film will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam.
The film is produced by Puri Jagannadh, Charmme Kaur and JB Narayan Rao Kondrolla. It is being made under the banner of Puri Connects and will be presented by Charmme Kaur in collaboration with JB Motion Pictures and JB Narayan Rao Kondrolla.
Tabu’s powerful character already revealed
The makers had earlier released a glimpse introducing actress Tabu’s character in the film. She plays Gowri Hegde, a Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax.
The glimpse presented Tabu as a fearless and powerful officer. It showed her confronting people aggressively, including scenes where she slaps and threatens them.
In one of the scenes, she tells Vijay Sethupathi, “In our style, we first shoot and then talk.”
The glimpse concludes by revealing her designation as Gowri Hegde, Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, while she is also shown striking a man with a lathi.
The character glimpse generated interest among fans, particularly for the contrast between Tabu’s authoritative role and Vijay Sethupathi’s character.
Vijay Sethupathi leads an ensemble cast
The film stars Vijay Sethupathi in the lead, with Samyuktha playing the female lead opposite him. Kannada actor Duniya Vijay and Tabu are also part of the cast in pivotal roles.
The ensemble further includes Brahmaji and VTV Ganesh in key supporting roles.
According to sources close to the production, Samyuktha’s character is integral to the narrative and offers considerable scope for performance and emotional depth. The actress is said to be excited about her role in the film.
Duniya Vijay’s presence also adds a prominent Kannada face to the multi-language project.
Film promises an action-packed world
The film has generated considerable interest since the team began shooting in July last year. Sources close to the unit have confirmed that filming has been completed and that post-production work is progressing across the different language versions.
A title poster released by Puri Jagannadh last year featured Vijay Sethupathi in a stylish avatar, wearing coolers and holding a blood-stained machete. He was shown standing amid wooden boxes containing currency notes, offering a glimpse into the action-oriented world of the film.
The collaboration with JB Motion Pictures is expected to further add to the scale of the project.
Harshavardhan Rameshwar scores music
National Award-winning music composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar is scoring the music for the film. He is known for his work in films including Arjun Reddy and Animal, where his compositions were noted for their intense and dramatic sound.
With a combination of Vijay Sethupathi, Tabu, Samyuktha and Duniya Vijay in prominent roles, Slum Dog is being positioned as a Pan-India action entertainer.
The film is scheduled for release in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.
