Sports News: Bangladesh performed brilliantly in the second match of the three-match T20 International series against Zimbabwe and won by 34 runs. With this win, the visiting team leveled the series at 1-1 and now the third and final match between the two teams will be the deciding match of the series.
The foundation of Bangladesh’s victory was laid by openers Saif Hasan and Tanjeed Hasan Tamim. Both the players gave a strong start to the team by making an excellent partnership of 120 runs for the first wicket. After this, the bowlers performed disciplined and prevented Zimbabwe from reaching the target.
Saif Hassan and Tanjeed Hassan gave a strong start
Bangladesh team, which came to bat first after losing the toss, adopted an aggressive style from the very beginning. Openers Saif Hasan and Tanjeed Hasan Tamim put pressure on Zimbabwe’s bowlers and scored runs quickly. Both the batsmen made a partnership of 120 runs in 88 balls, which took the team towards a big score.
Saif Hasan scored 55 runs in 45 balls. His innings included 8 fours and 1 six. On the other hand, Tanjid Hasan Tamim played a useful inning of 58 runs in 44 balls and batted with full confidence. This strong start put Zimbabwe’s bowling attack under pressure in the early overs.
Middle order also played an important role
After the dismissal of the opening pair, Bangladesh’s middle order could not form a big partnership. Captain Tauheed Hridoy was out after scoring only 6 runs, while Parvez Hussain Amon could score only 1 run and Nurul Hasan could score only 4 runs. However, in the last overs, Yasir Ali and Mohammad Saifuddin strengthened the team’s score by batting fast. Yasir Ali scored 22 runs, while Saifuddin scored 31 not out.
In the stipulated 20 overs, Bangladesh scored a competitive score of 186 runs at the loss of 5 wickets. For Zimbabwe, Richard Ngarawa and Brad Evans took two wickets each, but they could not completely control the Bangladesh batsmen.
Zimbabwe faltered while chasing the target
Zimbabwe had a very poor start while chasing the target of 187 runs. The team came under pressure due to the early fall of early wickets. Brian Bennett returned to the pavilion after scoring 11 runs, Tadivanashe Marumani 4 runs and Dion Myers 4 runs. After the initial setbacks, Milton Shumba tried to control the innings by scoring 19 runs.
Captain Sikandar Raza played useful innings of 28 runs and Ryan Burl played 29 runs. Both tried to control the innings for some time, but could not make a big partnership under the pressure of increasing run rate. In the lower order, Brad Evans continued the struggle by adding 25 runs and Richard Ngarava added 15 runs, but could not lead the team to victory. The entire Zimbabwe team was all out for 152 runs and Bangladesh won the match by 34 runs.
Rishad Hussain’s lethal bowling
Along with the batsmen, the contribution of the bowlers was also very important in Bangladesh’s victory. Spinner Rishad Hussain bowled brilliantly and took 4 wickets and completely destroyed Zimbabwe’s middle order. His precise line and length did not give the batsmen a chance to play freely. Apart from this, Mahedi Hasan also performed well and took 3 wickets. Both the bowlers together kept Zimbabwe’s run rate in check.
With this win, the three-match T20 series is now tied at 1-1. In such a situation, the third and final match played between the two teams will be the deciding match of the series.
