Zomato Host Mode : Ahead of the upcoming Diwali festival, online food delivery app Zomato has rolled out a new feature called Host Mode in India. This feature allows guests to order food without looking at menu prices. The app has made this new change on the suggestion of LinkedIn.

In fact, a LinkedIn user recently suggested that Zomato should have a “guest mode” that makes prices disappear allowing the phone to be passed by the host without any inconvenience, allowing guests to order easily. The suggestion caught the attention of Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal and he promised to launch the feature soon.

Now Zomato has started a 'Host Mode' on the platform in India. By hiding price details when choosing a food item, this feature attempts to eliminate cost-related hesitation when a person makes a payment.

How does host mode work?

1- Enable the Host Mode feature via the “Host Mode” chip located on the home screen header, directly on the restaurant's menu page, or under Profile > Your Preferences.

2- The user confirms the selection by tapping “Switch to Host Mode”.

3- Item prices, total counts and bill estimates are removed from restaurant listings, dish descriptions and shopping carts. A prompt confirms: “All prices are hidden in host mode.”

4- Guests can move the phone around to browse and add items to the shared cart without price visibility.

5- To finalize the order, the host selects “Exit Host Mode to Review Bill”. Before placing an order the app will require device authentication (such as fingerprint scanning or facial recognition) to reveal full item pricing, applicable discounts, delivery charges and final amount due.

6- If the 'Host Mode' feature is not visible to you, try updating the Zomato app.
