’10 percent additional duty is also illegal’, according to the order of the court, Trump will have to return the money!

US President Donald Trump has hit the US trade court again. His tariffs had already been declared illegal by the US Supreme Court. This time, the 10 percent import duty imposed by Trump was declared illegal by the court. Citing the Trade Act of 1970, the judge made it clear that this additional duty was illegal. Not reasonable at all.

On February 24, the US President imposed a 10 percent tariff on all goods imported into the United States. The decision of the Supreme Court was behind the imposition of this duty. In 2025, the US President Donald Trump imposed unrestrained tariffs on almost all countries of the world. The amount of that duty was somewhere 50 percent and somewhere 18 percent. A case was filed in court against this eccentricity of the US president. There, the US Supreme Court declared Trump’s tariffs illegal. In response to this, Trump imposed a 10 percent tariff in February, criticizing the Supreme Order.

On February 24, the US President imposed a 10 percent tariff on all goods imported into the United States.

Small businesses in 24 US states filed a lawsuit against this tariff imposed by Trump. In announcing the verdict in the case on Thursday, the justices said that Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974 did not properly apply the tariffs imposed by Trump. Due to which this additional duty is considered as null and void. This order of the court is considered to be a big blow for Trump. Besides, the Trump administration will have to return the extra money that has been collected from the businessmen due to this order.

Of course, after this verdict came out, the US President has returned to a familiar tone. Trump said, ‘Two far-left judges made this decision. However, I am not surprised by the court’s verdict. They make such judgments, then another course is taken.’ However, this 10 percent duty is not going to go up after the court verdict. Only the companies that had filed suits against the decision will get relief. On the other hand, Trump has warned to go to the Supreme Court against this decision.
