America attacks Iranian ship near the Strait of Hormuz, Tehran says – 10 sailors injured, 5 missing
tehran/Washington, May 8. During the ongoing conflict between America and Iran, tension is once again increasing in the Strait of Hormuz. In this sequence, an Iranian official said on Friday that an Iranian cargo ship was targeted in the overnight US attacks in the Hormuz Sea Route and its surrounding areas, in which 10 sailors were injured and five others went missing.
It is noteworthy that after several weeks of conflict between the two countries, the ceasefire was in force since April 8, but firing took place again on the night of Thursday-Friday. “Last night, during the American offensive in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz and the Makran Sea (Gulf of Oman), a cargo ship was attacked and caught fire near the waters of Minab,” Mohammad Radmehr, an official in the southern Hormozgan province, said, according to the Mehr news agency.
The official further said, ’10 injured sailors have been admitted to the hospital and local groups and search teams are trying to trace the whereabouts of the other five sailors.’ However, it was not immediately clear whether the cargo ship was directly targeted.
US Central Command said – Iran attacked 3 American warships
On the other hand, the US Central Command said that the Iranian Army attacked three American warships overnight with missiles and drones, but none of them were harmed. US forces destroyed the incoming threat and retaliated against ground targets in Iran.
According to the information received, Iran’s military targeted the American ships when they targeted “an Iranian oil tanker” passing through Iran’s coastal waters as well as another ship entering the Strait of Hormuz in front of the Fujairah port of the United Arab Emirates.
Both countries blamed each other for the new clash
In this sequence, Iran accused America of violating the ceasefire while both sides blamed each other for the overnight clash in the Strait of Hormuz. According to ISNA news agency, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baqai said, “The actions taken last night were a gross violation of international law as well as a violation of the ceasefire. At the same time, the country’s defenders dealt a ‘strong slap’ to the enemy and repelled the enemy’s aggression with full force.”
Trump warns to sign deal with Iran soon
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has also warned Iran to sign the deal as soon as possible after the attack on American destroyers. Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social, ‘Three world class American destroyers have just, very successfully, exited the Strait of Hormuz, where firing was taking place. The three destroyers suffered no damage, but the Iranian attackers suffered significant damage. They were completely destroyed with many small boats being used to replace their completely decimated navy. These boats went into the depths of the sea.
‘Our 3 destroyers safe, But Iranian attackers suffered great losses‘
Confirming the Iranian attack, the US President further wrote, ‘Missiles were fired at our destroyers and they were easily shot down. Similarly, drones came and got burnt in the air. We shot them down with great precision and they fell into the sea like a butterfly falling into its grave! A normal country would have let these destroyers go, but Iran is not a normal country.
‘We will defeat them even more violently in the future’
Warning the Iranian leadership, Trump said, ‘They are led by crazy people and if they had the chance to use nuclear weapons they would do so without question, but they will never get that chance. And just as we defeated them again today, we will defeat them even more violently in the future if they do not sign their deal soon! Our three destroyers, with their illustrious crews, will now rejoin our naval blockade, which is truly a Wall of Steel.’
