At present, till the time of writing the news, if we look at the trend of election results of Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry, then Congress seems to be winning only in Kerala. The UDF alliance has taken a lead in Kerala, justifying the exit poll results. The situation of Congress in other states and Union Territory Puducherry is not looking better. However, Congress has definitely done something better in Assam. Congress has earlier lost the assembly elections of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana etc. In such a situation, it was hopeful that this time in the assembly elections of five states, it would form the government in Assam along with Kerala, but at present Congress is far away from forming the government in Assam.

In the past also, Congress has been doing self-analysis after the election results, but there has been no improvement in the condition of the party. The current leadership of Congress has been expressing confidence in Rahul Gandhi that he is improving the position of the party, but the election results coming one after the other show that Congress is still not able to give a strong competition to the regional parties. Its pulse has not been melting in front of BJP since 2014. However, Congress had performed much better in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
