Bharat Bhushan Tiwari Encounter Case: FIR registered against the policemen who encountered Bharat Bhushan Tiwari


New Delhi. Now action has been taken after questions are being raised on the police in the encounter case of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari in Bhojpur, Bihar. Based on the complaint of Bharat’s mother Asha Devi, an FIR has been registered in Shahpur police station against the policemen involved in the encounter. Asha Devi had filed an application against the accused policemen before Bhojpur Superintendent of Police Raj. Following the recommendation of the SP, a case has been registered against Jagdishpur sub-divisional police officer and Shahpur police station incharge and other policemen involved in the encounter. Five policemen have already been suspended in this case.

According to Asha Devi, Bharat was continuously raising the problems of the flood displaced people of Javainiya area with the administration. On the morning of June 17, the day of the encounter, the police reached his house and asked Bharat to accompany them. Bharat Bhushan was putting forth the demands of the flood victims through Facebook Live. He alleged that in front of the police, Bharat threw the weapon in his hand on the ground and surrendered. Despite this, the police pushed him down and shot him five times. Later the policemen took away Bharat in injured condition. The family members were later informed about his death. This matter is much discussed across the country. Bharat’s mother said that we have faith in Prime Minister Modi that we will get justice.

A petition demanding CBI investigation into this case has been filed in the Supreme Court. Petitioner lawyer Vishal Tiwari had demanded speedy hearing on this petition, however, the apex court has asked him to follow the prescribed procedure. The petitioner has alleged that Bharat Bhushan Tiwari was killed in a fake encounter. This is a premeditated murder. On the other hand, Bharat’s family members have threatened that if justice is not given, they will commit mass suicide.
