FCRA Amendment Bill In JPC: FCRA Amendment Bill sent to JPC, report will come in the winter session of Parliament.

New Delhi. The Modi government on Wednesday introduced the Foreign Contribution Regulation Amendment Bill 2026 (FCRA) in the Lok Sabha. After presenting the bill, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai proposed to send it to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). Which was passed by voice vote. JPC will now consider the FCRA amendment bill. This JPC will have 21 members from Lok Sabha and 10 members from Rajya Sabha.

The resolution passed from the Lok Sabha states that the JPC should submit its report on the FCRA Amendment Bill on the last day of the first week of the winter session of Parliament in 2026. The proposal to send the FCRA amendment bill to the JPC was opposed by the opposition. Congress MP KC Venugopal alleged that through this bill the Modi government is trying to target minorities and NGOs. He demanded withdrawal of the bill. On this, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that KC Venugopal is speaking wrong. For several days, Congress and other opposition parties have demanded that the FCRA amendment bill be sent to the JPC. When such an important bill is being sent to JPC, there is opposition to it.

Kiren Rijiju said that if Venugopal or any other MP finds anything objectionable in the bill, then he can express his opinion in the JPC. He said that no minority community is being targeted by the FCRA Amendment Bill. This is to prepare rules to keep the entire country safe. At the same time, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav said that the entire opposition is against the FCRA Amendment Bill. He said that the Minister should tell which of the bills brought by the government till date have been against the minority community. On this, Kiren Rijiju said that he says responsibly that no provision in the bill is against minorities. He said that lies are being spread in the country. The minister said that the opposition wants that foreign money should be brought into the country and spent without any law.
