New Delhi. Congress MP and Leader of Opposition Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has filed a petition before the Supreme Court challenging the Allahabad High Court order in the disproportionate assets case registered against him. The Allahabad High Court had directed verification of the allegations of disproportionate assets by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Karnataka BJP worker Vignesh Shishir had filed this case against Rahul Gandhi.
A separate transfer petition has also been filed by the Congress MP in the Supreme Court, in which he has demanded to transfer the case from Allahabad High Court to Delhi High Court. According to the news of Live Law, the bench of CJI Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V. Mohana will hear both the petitions of Rahul Gandhi on August 17. Let us tell you that earlier the Allahabad High Court had directed the investigating agencies to present the progress report related to the case in the court. During the hearing on July 20, the High Court had expressed dissatisfaction with the affidavit of CBI. The High Court had said that this was not in accordance with its earlier instructions.
At the same time, the High Court had also said that the ED has taken necessary steps. If ED gets any information or evidence during the investigation, then it can take appropriate legal action. The High Court had fixed August 20 for the next hearing of the case. Now that Rahul Gandhi has approached the Supreme Court challenging the High Court order, everyone's eyes will be on the hearing to be held on August 17. It remains to be seen whether the apex court grants relief to Rahul Gandhi on his petitions or not.
