For the sake of road safety, the police issues challan and punitive action against people for violating traffic rules, but on the holy festival of Rakshabandhan, the Eastern Range of Delhi Traffic Police presented a unique example of sensitivity along with enforcing the law. Instead of taking punitive action against some drivers for violating traffic rules on the day of Rakshabandhan, the Eastern Range Delhi Traffic Police gave flowers and bouquets and advised them to follow traffic rules. Policemen asked such drivers not to violate rules in future for the safety of themselves and others. This work was done by Eastern Range Delhi Traffic Police under the leadership of TI Vikas Panwar at Loni roundabout.
The drivers became emotional after seeing the humanitarian attitude of the traffic police. Many people praised the police and assured them to wear helmets, seat belts and follow other traffic rules in future. This step of police created a positive atmosphere in TI Nand Nagari Circle. Which was also heart touching. Generally, people know the traffic police as the one who issues challans and takes action, the same police adopted the style of 'give flowers, win hearts and enforce rules' on Rakshabandhan. People also discussed this. On Rakshabandhan, Eastern Range Police implemented the message of the film Munnabhai MBBS that love and affection can also become a means of improvement. In the same way, sensitivity and humanity are equally important along with law. People praised this initiative and said that such positive steps play a special role in increasing trust and affinity between the common people and the police.
Regarding this step, Eastern Range DCP Traffic Shweta Singh Chauhan said that for every sister, her brother is the biggest jewel in the world. He said that for the love of sisters and for the festival, all those brothers should take a pledge on Rakshabandhan that they will follow the traffic rules. So that no accident or untoward incident occurs. DCP Shweta Singh Chauhan said that instead of just issuing challans or taking any other punitive action, we try to convince the drivers with love and respect.
