Not only this, India has declared the 'Court of Arbitration' illegal and said that it does not have the authority to hear this case. In a statement issued by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, it has been said that the illegally constituted so-called 'Court of Arbitration' (CoA) has issued a decision related to interim measures and the status of the treaty under the Indus Water Treaty, but India does not accept any of its orders.

The Indian Foreign Ministry said that the Court of Arbitration has no authority to speak or take decisions on India's sovereign decisions. Any decision of the Court of Arbitration will have no impact on India's water projects either today or in the future. MEA said that this so-called court was constituted by the World Bank in clear violation of the terms of the treaty. India has never recognized the existence of this illegally formed institution.
India said, the very formation of this Court of Arbitration is a violation of the Indus Water Treaty. This is the reason why India has never appeared before this institution and has never paid attention to its earlier decisions and has always rejected them. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs made it clear in very clear words that the decision of the Government of India to keep the Indus Water Treaty on hold will remain in full force. Let us tell you that the Court of Arbitration said that the Indus Water Treaty of 1960 remains legally valid and India does not have sufficient grounds to suspend the treaty.
