New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the 7th edition of the Global Fintech Fest at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center (NMACC), Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai. During this, while giving his address, Modi said that you all know very well what is the situation in the world. The world is going through a period of conflict and uncertainty. In this too, the quarter from April to June has been the most challenging and in the meantime, when India grows by 7.8 percent, the world gets a new confidence. I will say again that this reform express of India will move forward at a faster pace. India's fintech story has been amazing and one of its biggest champions is our UPI. I had discussed this last year also. This is such a big transformation that whenever Fintech is discussed, it will be incomplete without UPI.

Another hat-trick: Modi
Modi said, I am happy that today another hat-trick has been scored here. One hat-trick was related to forming the government for the third time in 2024 and this hat-trick is related to coming among all of you. This is my third consecutive year at Global Fintech Fest. This hat-trick shows how important you are for developed India, how important your work is. Whenever I come here, I see more youth than before, I feel more energy than before, hence my faith in the future of developed India is getting stronger.
Modi is not one to be satisfied after reaching a milestone and celebrating.
The Prime Minister said, I am now about to complete 25 years in the ecosystem related to policy and governance and whoever has seen me in these years knows that Modi is not one to be satisfied after reaching a milestone and celebrating. When a goal is achieved, I start preparing for an even bigger goal. Today our UPI has reached many countries but this is the first step. Now our next goal should be to connect with the payment systems of those countries.
Prime Minister gave four important suggestions to FinTech companies
The PM further said, the first quarter of the 21st century is over. Now we are in the year 2026 and the second quarter has brought even more possibilities for us. Technologies like Agentic AI, Tokenisation, Quantum are opening doors to new possibilities in the financial sector. Now the challenge before us is how to convert these possibilities into real impact? For this, I want our FinTech companies to come together and set some tasks for themselves. For this I want to give some suggestions to you. First- We have to make cyber security top notch in India. Second- Our industry should have its own ethical data protection standards. Third- We have to create a strong FinTech regulator industry innovation ecosystem. Fourth- We should have a FinTech Consumer Protection Index.
