Earlier, while addressing the BRICS Summit, PM Modi strongly advocated reform of the United Nations Security Council. He said that people's trust in global institutions will be built only when we unite and focus on response. While speaking at the BRICS Summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, BRICS is based on respect for each other's traditions, values and history, that is why our influence is increasing. Global politics, security, economy and humanitarian cooperation depend on our joint actions and decisions.

Chinese President Xi Jinping in his address urged the BRICS group to play a role in bringing peace in the Middle East conflict. Xi said China would work together with other BRICS members in this role, as this war is not in line with the common interests of the international community. He said that China will take over the chairmanship of BRICS next year and will host the 19th BRICS summit.
