According to media reports, Samajwadi Party President and Lok Sabha MP Akhilesh Yadav has now been made the Chairman of Lohia Trust in place of Shivpal Singh Yadav. Akhilesh's uncle and UP Assembly member Shivpal Singh Yadav was made the chairman of Lohia Trust in 2017.
In August 2017, Samajwadi Party patron Mulayam Singh Yadav had called a meeting of Lohia Trust. Mulayam Singh Yadav was the chairman of Lohia Trust at that time. Then he removed four loyalists of Akhilesh Yadav, Ram Govind Chaudhary, Ahmed Hasan, Usha Verma and Alok Shakya, from the post of members of Lohia Trust. Whereas, Ram Sevak Yadav, Ram Naresh Yadav, Rajesh Yadav and Deepak Mishra, considered close to Shivpal Singh Yadav, were made members in the trust. Despite being in the Lohia Trust, Akhilesh Yadav, his uncle and Samajwadi Party general secretaries Ram Gopal Yadav and Mohammad Azam Khan did not participate in that meeting.
After the meeting of Lohia Trust, Shivpal Singh Yadav had said that everyone was informed. They will be busy. Will join us in the next meeting. Shivpal had then said that he was working to strengthen the Samajwadi Party. It is reported through sources that in the recent meeting of Lohia Trust, all the members including Shivpal Singh had agreed to make Akhilesh Yadav the president. Let us tell you that earlier too there has been speculation of a tussle between Shivpal Singh and Akhilesh Yadav. Shivpal Singh Yadav had also formed the Progressive Samajwadi Party (Lohia). Shivpal had merged his party with Samajwadi Party on 8 December 2022. However, the information is that Shivpal Singh Yadav also agreed to make Akhilesh the president of Lohia Trust, but the market of speculation on the uncle-nephew relationship may heat up again.
