New Delhi. Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi's troubles may increase in the matter related to the allegation of adding her name to the voter list before getting Indian citizenship. In fact, the Special Court of Rouse Avenue has canceled the order of the Magistrate Court and has given instructions to start the hearing afresh. Earlier, the Magistrate Court had refused to investigate this matter on 11 September 2025. This complaint was filed against Sonia Gandhi on behalf of advocate Vikas Tripathi in which he alleged that Sonia Gandhi had obtained Indian citizenship in 1983, whereas her name had been added to the voter list three years before that.
Special Judge Vishal Gogane said that the order was given by the Magistrate Court without any solid reason and no proper reasons were given in it. Which shows that he did not consider the matter properly. The court said that on allegations of wrongly adding or manipulating the name of a voter or a non-Indian citizen in the voter list, a reasoned order should be given, in which it should be clear whether the allegations of fraud or forgery are proved or not.

Advocate Vikas Tripathi said that Rouse Avenue Court has said that the earlier order given by the Magistrate Court was wrong. The District Judge has been ordered to constitute a special court in this case and has sought a status report. After the court order, further decision will be taken based on the police investigation report. Now this matter will be put up for hearing before the ACJM on September 29. It is alleged that Sonia Gandhi's name was added to the voter list in 1980 through fake documents, however, two years later in 1982, her name was removed and then after getting Indian citizenship in 1983, Sonia Gandhi's name was again added to the voter list.
