According to the news, those who want to contest elections in UP will have to deposit two lakh rupees in the Congress fund. Only after that they will be able to stake claim.
Apart from this, to become a Congress candidate, you will also have to show Rs 20 lakh in your bank account. The newspaper quoted Congress sources as saying that the party will give a proforma to those claiming tickets to contest the UP assembly elections. Which will have to be filled and submitted to the Congress office. Bank account details will also have to be shown in this. Ticket seekers will not be able to withdraw Rs 20 lakh deposited in their account. Vinod Gumber, District President of Congress in Moradabad, told the newspaper that there is going to be a change in the system of selecting candidates. He said that 62 people had already claimed Congress tickets for six seats in Moradabad.
According to the news, a maximum of 19 people have staked claim to contest the UP Assembly elections from Thakurdwara seat of Moradabad. At least five people have claimed tickets for Kanth assembly seat. There are 16 contenders seeking Congress ticket for Moradabad Nagar seat. Congress is currently running an organization creation programme. According to the news, after the completion of this program, Congress will implement a new system for the candidates contesting the UP Assembly elections. In the 2022 elections for the UP Assembly, Congress had won only 2 seats. This time Congress is staking claim on those seats in which earlier its position was good. Now everyone's eyes are on Samajwadi Party whether it distributes seats in UP to Congress as per its claim or not.
