New Delhi, 22 September 2026: Security forces have launched a major offensive against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. Based on specific information received from intelligence agencies, a large-scale 'search operation' has been conducted to trace about 25 terrorists active in different areas of Jammu division. Information has been received that 4 local and 21 Pakistani terrorists are involved in these terrorists. Security agencies are currently trying to trace the location of terrorists by cordoning off dense forests and hilly areas from Rajouri, Poonch to Kathua.
According to the information received, out of 4 local terrorists, 3 are old terrorists associated with Hizbul Mujahideen, out of which Jahangir Saroori and his group are active in Kishtwar. Whereas a local terrorist named 'Nikku' is active in the area between Kathua and Udhampur. Nikku had returned to India two years ago after training in Pakistan and escaped after breaking the siege on September 17 during 'Operation Sohan'. On the other hand, out of 21 Pakistani terrorists, a new group of 6 to 8 terrorists are active in Rajouri and Poonch (Peer Panjal Range) areas, 2 terrorists in Reasi and 2 to 3 terrorists in Doda and Kishtwar. Apart from this, 3 different terrorist groups are constantly changing their locations and hiding in the forests of Udhampur and Kathuana.

15 terrorists killed so far in 2026
In the year 2026, security forces are continuously getting great success against terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. At least 15 terrorists have been eliminated in separate anti-coercion and anti-bribery operations from January 1 to September 22, 2026. At the beginning of the year, on January 23, Pakistani terrorist of Jaish-e-Mohammed Usman alias Abu Maviya was killed in Kathuana Bilwar. Subsequently, on 4th February, 3 terrorists including Jaish Commander Saifullah were killed in the forests of Udhampur and Kishtwar and on 22nd February, 3 terrorists including Jaish Commander Saifullah were killed in Kishtwar under 'Operation Trasari-I'.
During the months of March, April and May, infiltration attempts were foiled by killing Pakistani terrorists trying to cross the LoC in Nowshera, Uri and Krishna Ghati sectors of Rajouri. In July, Lashkar-e-Taubai commander Zakir Ganai was killed in Shopian.
Even in the current month of September, the security forces have launched a major attack. On September 5, Lashkar terrorist Yasir was killed in Yusmarg, while in 'Operation Sohan' conducted in Udhampur on September 16-17, two Jeshwar terrorists Saddam and Mustafa were killed with heavy weapons (AK rifle, M4 carbine and grenade). At present, the main goal of the security agencies is to stop new infiltration from the LoC and find these 25 terrorists hiding in the forests and hilly areas and completely eliminate them.
