AYUSH Ministry’s suggestion for healthy liver, adopt Ayurvedic diet and mindful eating
Keeping yourself healthy in today’s fast-paced and irregular life is no less than a challenge. Junk food and increasing carelessness towards health is gradually damaging the liver, an important organ of the body. World Liver Day is celebrated every year on 19 April to spread awareness about liver health.
On the occasion of World Liver Day, the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India has advised people to adopt Ayurvedic diet and mindful eating to keep their liver healthy. According to the ministry, diseases like hepatitis can be easily controlled by adopting right eating habits.
According to experts, include Ayurvedic principles in your daily routine. Regular exercise, drinking enough water and sleeping on time are also helpful in keeping the liver healthy. Health experts say that by changing small habits, we can avoid serious liver diseases.
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Ayurvedic ingredients beneficial for the liver include ginger (Ardrak) and garlic (Rasona), Patola leaves and fruits, Punarnava or Boerhaavia diffusa. Fruits like Amla, Pomegranate, Grapes, Papaya, Orange and Lemon, Makoy (Solanum Nigrum) leaves and Shigru (Moringa Oleifera) leaves are also included, which are no less than a boon for liver health.
According to health experts, it is beneficial to keep patients suffering from liver problems on a limited and light diet for a few days. Mindful eating i.e. eating carefully and calmly while eating is very important for liver health. This improves digestion and does not put a burden on the body.
For mindful eating, keep mobile and TV off while eating. Eat food after chewing it thoroughly. Give preference to fresh and home-made food. Avoid excessive fried, spicy and processed foods. Also include exercise in your daily routine.
