Ipl 2026 Rajasthan Royals Manager Fined %E2%82%B91 Lakh
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh on Rajasthan Royals team manager Romi Bhinder for violation of rules during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. They have also been given a strict warning that strict action will be taken if such a mistake is repeated in future.
The action came after an incident when Bhinder was seen using a mobile phone in the dugout during a match. This match was played against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati.
According to BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia, the Board’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) had taken the matter seriously and sought clarification from Bhinder. Bhinder responded on his own behalf, but the ACU did not find his explanation satisfactory, following which disciplinary action was recommended.
Under IPL rules, the use of mobile phones and other communication devices in the ‘Players and Match Officials Area’ (PMOA) is completely prohibited. The area is considered a controlled environment, with players and support staff required to submit their electronic devices prior to entry.
Bhinder being seen using a mobile phone on TV cameras during the match was considered a violation of this rule. Although the investigation did not indicate any corrupt activity, such negligence is still considered a risk to the fairness of the game.
BCCI reiterated in its decision that it is mandatory for all teams and staff to strictly follow the rules related to anti-corruption. Any kind of violation will not be tolerated. After the settlement of the matter, the Rajasthan Royals team would like to move beyond this controversy and focus on its performance. In a big tournament like IPL, such incidents not only affect the team’s image but can also raise questions on the credibility of the tournament.
