Former West Indies all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite has called for caution in handling 15-year-old explosive opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He believes that this young player should be given a chance gradually instead of bringing him into international cricket in a hurry.

Brathwaite told how Lara was prepared within the system before entering the international competition. “So West Indies cricket kept him with top players like Viv Richards, but kept him away from international cricket. It was a different time when there were many tour games. Lara developed his skills with senior players before making his debut. We all know how his career was after that.
Brathwaite said that Suryavanshi should be given a chance to live and learn with young players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma before making his debut for India. He can learn from many young cricketers of his age also.
After domestic cricket, India A, and Under-19 team, the demand for inclusion of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who is explosive batting in IPL, in the Indian T20 team has started rising.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his debut in IPL 2025. Vaibhav had scored a century against GT that season and became the youngest batsman to score a century in T20. In IPL 2026, Vaibhav has created a stir with his explosive batting. In 8 matches of the season, Vaibhav has scored 357 runs with the help of 2 half-centuries and 1 century. Vaibhav completed both his half-centuries in 15 balls each, while it took 36 balls for his century. In IPL 2025, Vaibhav scored a century in 35 balls.
Suryavanshi has hit 32 sixes and 31 fours this season. The 15-year-old has hit big shots against bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Josh Hazlewood, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Seeing his fearless style, there is a demand to give him a place in the T20 team.
