NIA summons in West Bengal, TMC leader surrounded in judicial misconduct case!
The NIA has summoned local Trinamool Congress leaders for questioning in connection with the case of misbehavior with the judicial officers deployed in the process of ‘Special Intensive Revision’ (SIR) of the voter list in Mothabadi in Malda district, officials said on Sunday.
According to officials, the NIA has also summoned the election agent of Trinamool candidate Sabina Yasmin from Sujapur. Apart from this, notices have also been issued to other TMC leaders and workers of the area.
He told that Sabina’s election agent Abdul Rehman received the notice late on Saturday night. He is the Superintendent of Forest and Land Department of Malda District Council. Apart from this, Trinamool President of Kaliachak Block-1 Mohammad Sariyul will also have to appear at the police station. According to officials, they have been asked to reach Kaliachak police station by evening.
Judicial officers appointed by the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court were finalizing the names in the list under consideration under the SIR. Last month, he was surrounded and held ‘hostage’ for about nine hours at Mothabadi in Malda.
He was kept inside the Kaliachak-2 block office till late night. There are also allegations of misbehavior with him. It is also alleged that this protest was organized by a section of the people whose names were removed from the SIR list.
The Election Commission had handed over the investigation of this incident to the NIA on the orders of the Supreme Court. However, before that the CID of the state police had arrested one of the main accused, Mofakkarul Islam. It was claimed in the court that he was one of the main conspirators of this protest program.
A total of 52 people have been arrested so far in this incident. Many accused are in NIA custody, while some are in judicial custody. Local sources said that Trinamool leaders of the area have been summoned for further questioning regarding the events of that day.
