No infection in Mumbai watermelon death case, now waiting for FSL report!
According to Mumbai Police officials, examination of the stomach contents, blood samples and food remains of the deceased did not reveal the presence of any type of microorganism or infection. The report completely ruled out the possibility of any infectious disease, further deepening the mystery of the case. The investigators are now completely dependent on the upcoming report of the Forensic Science Lab (FSL), which is expected to decide the further direction of the investigation.
The deceased have been identified as Nasreen Dokadia (35), Ayesha Dokadia (16), Abdullah Dokadia (44) and Zainab Dokadia (12). All four members of the family were admitted to different hospitals on April 26 when their health suddenly deteriorated.
According to family members, everyone started vomiting after eating watermelon last night. It is said that soon after this his condition deteriorated rapidly, due to which he died.
Police officials said that no evidence of any criminal conspiracy or suspicious activity has been found in the investigation so far. However, the exact cause of death is still unknown. Officials said they are awaiting toxicology and other scientific reports from the Forensic Science Lab to determine whether the deaths were caused by any poisonous substance or other unknown causes.
A police officer said the FSL report is extremely important as it is expected to clarify whether poison or any other external factor caused the deaths.
For now, the case remains a mystery, despite microbiology reports ruling out the possibility of infection and finding nothing suspicious. Both Mumbai Police and the health department are waiting for the final forensic report to find out the actual cause of this tragic incident.
As part of the investigation, Mumbai Police has recorded the statements of more than 10 persons related to this case. The statements of the four people who initially fell ill and the local doctor who treated them have also been recorded. Apart from this, the police have interrogated everyone from the watermelon seller to the people present at the family function and all their statements have been officially recorded.
